Redang

Note: photo was taken using Lee Quin's camera.

The Redang trip was great (despite a few minor grievances). However, there are no photos as I didn't bring along a camera. The plan was to go on a vacation, not lug around some sh*t expensive (and not to mention, dead heavy) camera and babysit it throughout the trip.

Here are the highlights from my Redang trip composed by yours truly;

  • Anyone familiar with the likes of ostentatious rainbow leggings and F.I.R. would undoubtedly enjoy the "open air seafood disco" at Long Beach. Endless loop of China songs and a China DJ for you to dance your night away. Epic fail. On a related note, have a gander at this Friendster club. Oh the irony.
  • Saw a couple of turtles, a butt-ugly moray eel and a shark while snorkeling in the clear blue ocean. Proper awesome.
  • For the first time in my life, I was well acquainted with seasickness. Though I'm not the biggest loser in the group. Honestly it was a bad bad decision on my part to down 4 half boiled eggs right before a snorkeling trip.
  • The ocean's absurdly clear. Can even see my toes even when the water level is up to my neck. Definitely a new experience from the usual "teh tarik" Port Dickson and Penang waters. More proper awesomes.
  • And finally, sunburn on your back can be real nasty especially if you have wonderful friends who suddenly discovers their love for patting your back. My back's burnt to a crisp and I an now an Indian according to this loser.

Krispy Kreme Malaysia

Kirspy Kreme. Overrated to a certain extent but still good nontheless. Best part is the fact that it's quite cheap over here (still quite expensive for our local standards, I know) considering the amount this idiot paid for 2 dozens of KK in Japan.

P/S: The blogger will be away in Redang till the 28th of May. Too bad you won't be able to feel the sand in between your toes while having the sea breeze ruffle up your hair nyahaha sucks to be you. *ahem* Yeah, it's going to be a blast.

Porks and dogs

EDIT: I've realised that postscripts are supposed to be POST-scripts. My bad.

Drove down to Klang for some good ol' pork in a claypot.

Subsequently, was acquainted with Goldie the labrador whom I believe is a chicken in her past life. She was terrified of me most of the time despite my repeated attempts to be all nice and harmless. (the other dog was busy being even more terrified of me)

Another photo of goldie just because she's so cute. (no that's not my leg)

P/S: Photos were taken with a 5D and omg I so frickking love shooting in RAW!

Al-Rawsha

Had a brief visit to this restaurant called Al-Rawsha located near Jalan Ampang (to be specific, it's at Jalan Damai) for some drinks with Asyraf and Izzati. Perhaps, it would be sympathetic of me to call that place shitty. The waiters are all blind and deaf and if you're neither a foreigner nor wearing a suit, they will all ignore you till kingdom come. Not forgetting the ridiculous price they're charging for all meals and drinks served there.

Now I've heard reviews from blogs and friends saying that it's quite a decent place to eat with all it's nice Lebanese food. But then again, what is the darn point of having good food when you're going to have to wait 30 minutes for your drink and another 30 minutes for your food? This is, without a doubt, one of the worst F&B outlets I've been to. Kudos Al-Rawsha.

Post-exams 2

I don't know what's up with my group of friends and Genting. Been up there a couple of times lately. Must be the temperature.

This is what Kuala Lumpur looks like from Genting. Not exactly the best view here, location's not so good.

The bunch. Apologies for the faceless me. Am not keen on showing off my fatigue-ridden face to the world. Children might be reading this blog.

Stayed up there till about 5.30am and drove down for breakfast. I have to admit, it wasn't a very smart idea (no thanks to Iggy) considering the dreadful breakfast and my messed up sleep pattern. Not to mention, my passengers were doing a swell job accompanying me during the drive down as the only 'company' I had was a snoring Indian. Next time, I'll punch anyone who suggests staying up in Genting for more than 3 hours.

New profile photo

Not exactly the best but still I think this photo's suitable for the job. Credits goes out to Voon Fei for the capture.

Post-exams 1

A bunch of us had sushi at 1 Utama's Sushi Zanmai after our final paper. It wasn't a big group but we were out in a group nontheless (not easy to get most of my classmates in a group, you see) and oh it was refreshing to finally be able to have proper fun now that the exams are over for us.

Camera: N95. Warning, more iPhone bashing ahead; can your iPhone capture macro shots like my N95 can? Nope didn't think so

I still think the Sushi Zanmai in the Gardens is the best, in terms of my "reasonable sushi standards" of course, as they have better ambience and plates (not joking, look at that miserable plain white plate above) at The Gardens. However, no franchise can beat the likes of Hajime and sorts.

Now that our exams are over, started lah all the stupidity. Here's one for a prologue.

I don't usually use this blog as a personal venting channel thingo. Trying to keep it professionally candid konon. Perhaps it's good to break the cycle sometimes. It's going to be a short one. Just because I have the urge to share this little piece of my thought.

It has been more than a month since popo left us. I can still recall fragments of memory about her from the way she scolds me when I was a kid to the way she enthusiastically talks to me about her potted plants in Ipoh during last year’s Chinese New Year. Damn enthusiastic I tell you.

I’d like to share a mini bit about my impression on her. Ever since I was a kid, I have always looked up to her as this big authoritative figure (despite the fact that she’s one of the gentlest persons I’ve ever known in my life) and I have this truckload of respect for her. However, even up till today I am still unable to fully grasp the reasoning behind my said respect for her. It’s confounding but I am content with the way it is, as this kind of respect is possibly the purest of respect that one can ever give; respect born out of neither past deeds nor contributions, but simply because of pure will.

Of course, things will be different from now onwards. But I can tell that she had and will have a lasting impression on everyone who knows her. This is why I’m grateful to have such an awesome grandmother.

iPod pwned

EDIT: that iPod Shuffle isn't mine. It belongs to Quin

I've always wanted to own an iPod ever since I was in high school. Not exactly a Shuffle but something higher up the iPod pyramid (if there is such a pyramid existing in the first place) like an iPod Touch.

However now that I'm thinking about it, life's so much better without an iPod Touch. Without an iPod Touch I won't look like a Mac-bigot and I certainly won't be worrying about scratching that lovely chrome/touch screen at all times. With all things considered, am pretty settled and impressed with my N95. Bet your iPod/iPhone can't do 5mpx photos with macro can it?

Pwned I tell you, pwned.

Thursday, May 07, 2009

This was taken during a form 6 excursion trip to Temenggor (with a Canon IXUS 60, mind you). Also, this photo helped me bag a mini prize from a competition last year (I think this is the one, the useless organizers never bothered to reply my emails). Actually it's my first and only "winning" photo, I'm not exactly a competition whore so I don't really shoot specifically for photo competitions.

I've seen many absurd invitations on Facebook before but this particular one is beyond ridiculous.
