CNY postlude

It was a good 4 days over in Perak. Had a few revelations there together with a few unexpected incidents. It was all good.

...apart from the fact that the whole of Ipoh is Lalaland. It was seriously infested with those people especially in places such as McDonald's. I can't even remember a moment where I wasn't able to spot one. Well I think it's probably the lala community converging back into Ipoh for the Chinese New Year celebrations. Oh the humanity.

EDIT: new year photos are going to be reeeeally slow as I'm having some issues with the post processing. i guess i'll upload photos from my other albums first.

CNY prelude

Am currently in Ipoh for Chinese New Year. So far I've nothing sensationally exceptional to report except for how awesome and cheap the food here is. This year I have the 5D with me so I'll definitely come back with some photos. Here's onetwo for starters.

Will be back for class on Wednesday morning. Damn sad, I know.

Porsche 911 PDK

I think this is the most expensive car (a wallet-disintegrating RM854,000 ++) I've ever shot (considering the fact that I am completely oblivious to the pink Cadillac's worth). Not exactly the prettiest car around (I think it looks like a flattened VW Beetle) but nevertheless it's still pretty beyond what most cars (ubiquitous modified junk Proton/Peroduas) could ever hope to achieve. Why do I have so many parentheses? I don't know.

With Porsche's legendary boxter engine at the back, this baseline model has lots to offer despite it being at the bottom of the food chain. Not exactly a winner in neither the looks nor sound department, it is nevertheless a proven head turner as I've lost count of how many heads this car has managed to turn in just a few hours.

Was able to photograph the car while examining it's little intricate details (there is a sticker panel displaying the ideal tyre pressure for driving along with/without a passenger/luggage, sweet), fun. I didn't get to drive it, not fun.

p/s: We used the Tiguan as a chase car. Interior shots coming soon in following entry.

VW Tiguan

This rather uncouthly named vehicle is Volkswagen's new mini SUV. Freshly launched just a few weeks back (from date of photoshoot) it is equipped with a 2.0 engine from a Golf GTI which is capable of "quite some speeds" I'd say. For more information, go read a brochure or something I'm not familiar with these details. But what I do know is that it's quite a pretty looking thing despite it's eyebrow-raising name which is apparently an orgy between "Tiger" and "Leguan" (German word for "iguana"). What the hell man?

These were shot for Paultan.org.

Personally speaking, these shots didn't turn out as nice as I wanted them to be. I can't explain it but somehow they sort of lack...erh...something. Plus, considering the ratio between the interior and exterior shots, I would like to confess that my exterior shots are quite the epic fail this time. Mostly my doing but quite possibly due to the location as well. Ugh.

Never mind. At least the Porsche shots are better. I think.

Post-Penang

Am barely alive safely back from Penang with all my limbs still attached, and I have only one remark; Penang drivers are either 24-7 drunk, has balls of titanium (not too sure about the women drivers though) or they all sat for their driving classes in India. Driving in Penang is not for the faint hearted I assure you.

Now as for my usual round of photos, I didn't want to burden myself by lugging a bulky camera all over my vacation, hence I'd like to inform everyone that I don't have any Penang photos. My apologies for being this lazy but do understand that having a DSLR sans-vacation is stressful enough as it is. But if you die die also want to see photos, you can check them out at John's Facebook page.

Am currently having a whole backlog of photos waiting for me to get the hammer down. It's going to take a while to sort everything out considering my overall workload but I'll start off by posting up my VW Tiguan photos next. And after that, Porsche photos shall come after the Tiguan.

Last but not least here's a photo I've left out from my recent Genting stint. I like how candid this photo turned out (apart from the two posers in the middle) despite the horrible flash cut-off below everyone's waist area. It's definitely a memorable night out with them I'd say.

p/s: to aunty Sam, my apologies for being so useless on that unlucky night :(

Quasi chimney

Found this somewhere within my archives, God knows how I could miss this one out. This photo was taken back when I was working on my mini "Sky Series" for my Deviantart page. According to the EXIF data, this photo was taken on 20/6/2008.

I really like how this turned out especially with the bit where the cloud is seemingly coming out of the roof antenna like smoke coming out from a chimney. In fact, I feel this is my best sky shot yet. Although the cloud on the lower left part is a bit of a spoiler *roar*. And lastly, do forgive me for the resolution, this was shot vertically which makes it undesireable for me to give it a 800px width.

More width

Things have been "so far so good". 2009 has been slow but I'm sure the pace will quicken up sooner or later considering the fact that I only have two days left of my semester break. My class resumes on tuesday sans-tutorials for the first two weeks, which is very pleasant news for most of us HELP law students I'm sure.

I have been contemplating on increasing my blog content area's width for quite some time now. Today I've added an extra 200 pixels hence any photos published by me will hereafter be at approximately 800 pixels wide. To show you what's what, here are 2 photos from my previous Genting escapade.

Fog = good. More fog = more good.

This blog is turning into one of those ubiquitous photo blogs; which is a good thing really as I've always wanted a blog like this. Anyways I am considering on posting up my Porsche and Tiguan photos soon as they've been rotting in my hard drive for so darn long and my oh my are they overdue.

We'll see how things go from here. Cheers everyone.
